magazine distribution: The type of company that distributes your magazine tells a lot about the type of product that is it, what values and messages it contains, who the audience is and how important profit is to your product and company. There are two types of distribution networks. These being, 'major' and 'independent'
The top of the pops magazine is published by the BBC and has been since 1928. They allow other people to read their contents across 36 websites, 58 magazine and 70 bands. These are one of the biggest consumers of media in the UK.
A possible distributor for my magazine could be Bauer media. This is such a successful institution. They advertise worldwide which would make my magazine well known and I would receive a larger profit. Bauer distributes magazines such as 4music, Kiss and box television which are music channels which are mostly associated with pop music which is the genre of mine. This gives me the impression that this would be the best distribution for me.
Immediate media UK or Egmont UK would have an interest in a magazine such as my own. They both have existing products very similar to mine with the same target audience. Egmont UK however distribute products exclusively to children where as 'we love pop' is their only music magazine that's aimed at teenagers. This may mean they would not have an interest in adding more to this category and wish to stay within mainly distributing to younger children.
