progression

I have came to the conclusion that my magazine as a whole looks too young for my target audience. This is mainly down to the photograph used. I can progress my magazine by re-taking photographs of an older model.

editing skills (contents page)

  • First of all, I decided that I would like to add an outline to my picture. To do this took a few simple steps. By adding an outline border to the picture shows the main person throughout the magazine. This is similar to the theme on my front cover and will continue to follow through with this theme for the rest of my magazine.

I started by selecting the shape tool on the left. Held it down and a few shape options came up. I chose rectangle.

Next, the shape appeared around my image. What looks to be like the image had disappeared was soon to be returned. As you can see, on the right hand side, I have all my layers which I have used to create my contents page. This shape layer appeared at the very top of the layers list.

To correct this, I simply dragged the shape layer to the bottom of the layers list. This meant that the image would now appear in front of it and this was my plan from the start.

  • The next editing skill I decided to use was the duplicate layer. This meant that I could copy over exactly the same size writing and font of what I wanted to move over. I used this because it would make my magazine consistent with its title.

Next thing you have to do is select the layer that you want to use. Here I chose my title.

Then you can now select 'duplicate layer' in the toolbar at the top, this will then open a window as shown below.

This is the window that opens. Where it says document, you have a drop down option of what page you want to copy it to. In this case, I want to copy it to my contents page. Then press ok.

contents page draft for half term

Tom improve my contents page I will add the word 'Contents' under the main title in order for the reader to understand what the page is.
  • '04' in the right hand corner just looks like a floating number. This actually represents the issue number so this needs to be made clearer.

Front page draft for half term

  • The things I want to improve in the future are the colours. The black is quite hard to be seen over the hair, as is the blue when they are in century gothic texts.
  • I also need to make the barcode smaller as this is unrealistic to a magazine.
  • I could add a price so that the customer does not get a surprise when they get to the till to pay.
  • I may use another image in the future or more images.
  • I would like the change the colour scheme to more obvious colours which suggest it is a teenage girls magazine.
